All of us have heard about the benefits of water; however, many of us still reach for that sugary soft drink with our meals. Research shows that our bodies require eight glasses of water per day yet very few people drink half of the recommended daily intake. With so many health benefits that come along with proper H2O intake, it is surprising that more people are not following through with the eight glass rule.
One of the first reasons behind adequate water consumption is the maintenance of bodily fluids. About 60% of our body is made up of water and these bodily fluids are responsible for maintaining a variety of bodily functions. Some of the functions that bodily fluids take part in include: digestion, circulation, absorption, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature. Your kidneys also benefit greatly from the consumption of water. Kidneys are responsible for transporting waste in and out of cells and drinking plenty of healthy fluids can help them perform that task with ease. So as you can see, it is important to keep your body well hydrated.
Water can also help control your calorie intake. Although water is not an actual weight loss product, it can help you lose weight when you chose to substitute some of your high calorie soft drinks for a bottle of water. For instance, instead of chasing down your all natural diet pills with a can of soda, you should opt for a glass of water. Furthermore, foods rich in water, such as watermelon, can help you feel full. When you feel full after consuming a slice of watermelon, you will be less likely to snack on something less healthy. Even with the best diet pills on the market, proper hydration can help you achieve your desired weight quicker.
