Are you eating a Weight Friendly Diet?

If you wish to lose weight, maintain your current weight or simply eat healthier, a nutritionally balanced diet is a must. You have to know what foods are good for you, what foods you should avoid and how your meals should be prepared. Maintaining a healthy diet can be a struggle, especially if some of your favorite foods pack quite the calorie punch. In this article I will provide you with some of the healthiest food choices.

The first question you have to ask yourself is “what type of grains do you eat?” If you wish to lose weight, your best bet includes whole grain breads, whole grain cereals and whole grain pastas. Another step towards improving your diet comes from vegetable and fruit consumption. Now days a lot of people make the mistake of consuming potatoes, canned peas and canned corn as their vegetables of choice. But what you actually want to eat more of are fresh broccoli, spinach, and carrots. Fresh fruit and vegetables are generally better for your health and for your diet. As far as dairy is concerned always be sure to choose low fat, fat free or skim. It is very easy to switch from regular milk to skim and from regular yogurt to fat-free. They taste just as delicious as the real thing.

Majority of your protein should come from poultry, fish, and lean meats. Try to stay away from fried sea food and other fried meats. Keep your meat cuts lean if you wish to achieve quick weight loss. And last but certainly not least is meal preparation. When preparing your lunch or dinner be sure that your food is always steamed or grilled. Try to avoid baking and especially frying. These are just a few tips in attaining a weight friendly diet.
